True Stories of God and Technology

Are you feeling stuck in a place where you feel you can’t make a difference? Well cheer up! All you need is a phone,  a computer, letter writing ability, and a FaceBook/Twitter/Linkedin account!
How To Get Unstuck
"What are you talking about," I hear you ask??? I, too, felt stuck and ineffective when I recently moved to an area of Colorado where I knew no one. My husband was working all the time this past year, and I was at home working on my first book. Fresh out of ministry school and as passionate as a teenage girl with a crush on a cute boy, I was wondering what, if anything, I could do to make a difference for the Kingdom of God.
Smack Dab In The Middle of An Amazing World
Well, I’m a writer and photographer. The internet is perfect for the things I love to do. So I regrouped and changed the focus of my blog. Then, frustrated that I didn’t have a group of friends to teach my classes to, I prayed about it and realized I have access to the whole world, right from my little home office. I set up a phone number on FreeConferenceCall.com; then asked a bunch of friends that live far away if they would be interested in doing some classes with me. They all said “yes!” I had people from all corners of Colorado; Chicago; Massachusetts; Pittsburgh; Cleveland, and California. I had others checking in from other places, too.
Check Out My Classes!
So all year, I had people meeting weekly all on the same call for such classes as "Cultivating Kingdom Creativity" using Theresa Dedmon's book; "Dream Culture," using Andy and Janine Mason's book; and "Prosperous Soul," using Stephen DeSilva's awesome teaching on Kingdom finances. A Facebook private page or email was all we needed to stay connected through the week. I would send encouraging words and testimonies as well as YouTube worship links. Members posted stories of their breakthroughs during the classes - and they still do!
It's All Duplicatable
And guess what? Some of these friends who took my classes have started up the same classes in their home towns. Wow. I am so happy about that!
Now Go Make It Happen!
God is good. He’ll give you ideas like He gave me. You have purpose; You have something to share with others. You, too, can make it happen with a little simple technology!

Sadness in Colorado

As I write this, the television coverage of last night’s tragedy continues to describe the horror. Children dead and critically injured, a married couple dead, more than a dozen killed and more than 50 injured at the hand of a seemingly intelligent young man who had no previous criminal record. President Obama wonders what could possiblly move a person to hurt another human being. Candidate Romney has put in his thoughts about the living God bringing comfort. People all over the world are listening. People all over the world are praying.
What does motivate something like that? Incomprehensible. Tragic. Horrific. All words that continue to be uttered as witnesses and reporters describe what happened.
My heart is so sad. So sick. Everything within me is wanting to fight, yet what are we fighting? The only answer to President Obama’s question is - no human being could do something like this to fellow human beings. Pure evil is as real as our living God. It is a battle that has waged, according to the Bible, from before the foundations of the world. How do we respond as humans?
We can talk to the One who is able to bring the only comfort, peace, truth, light, life, healing, and love, that can transcend the pain of this time. Prayer works. Intercession works. Allowing Him to love others through us works. Times like these make us hold our children closer; count our blessings; and bond even with strangers. God is with us. He loves us. He loves Colorado. He is present. He will prevail. He is good.
God bless Colorado.

A gift for you!

Below I have a gift link for you that is so beautiful. My friend, Gary Rowell, is a wonderful artist and shared his gift with a beautiful musical artist, C. Denise Young. This is the result. It is so anointed with worship for our Creator...so blessed with the love of God for His children.

We each have creative gifts, because we are made in the image of the Creator of the Universe! What has He put into you? Are you a painter? An inventor? A writer? A photographer? A carpenter? A poet? A musician? What could happen if you gave your gift to God? Might you find another artist to collaborate with? How can you see God blessing it beyond your wildest expectations?

For me - I wrote a book. Gasp! And then took a risk and sent it off to a few publishing companies. One didn't answer. One rejected it. And one loved it and it will be released in 2013!!!! (My gift as a painting artist is evolving...see my handflower above left?)

Please dream with me as you watch this video. Wind down. Simply enjoy what these amazing artists have created. There is a message in it for you. At the end, turn up the volume so you can hear some amazing prophetic words for you. I hope you enjoy this. Please reply with your thoughts! There is a reason you came upon my blog today! It's Time To Fly!!!!!!

"It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery." Galations 5:1 (NIV)

Free at last, Free at last!!
My cast is off! Yes - those of you who have gone through this with me know how hard it was for me to have the restriction of a cast. Never have I so appreciated all my working parts! Never have I so honored my left hand and all it is capable of normally doing - like supporting my right hand, typing, lifting, washing dishes, shaping guitar chords, cleaning, doing laundry, buttoning my jeans, squeezing the toothpaste...you get the picture. So you can imagine my joy when the cast came off last week. My "wing" was again able to help me fly.

Truly alive!
This experience I liken to my spiritual experience. I have had times when I was injured - rejected -  by someone and my feelings hurt - or times when I tried something and failed, or when I behaved badly and was ashamed, causing injury to my mind and heart. In those times I actually put a "cast" on my pain - a protective cover to help it to heal. Some people call it a "wall." We unknowingly build them to not only help us heal, but protect us from future hurts. The thing is - when we are healed and strengthened in that area, we often forget to remove the cast. It stays on - and the result is we are limited in our abilities to do things - like really love; really show compassion; and receive the same from others. Our walls keep us "safe," but prevent us from truly living.

Life, joy, freedom!
My prayer today is that we can enter life and freedom, and bravely remove our casts and take down our walls - and see that God has healed us - He will protect us - and His desire is for us to be free from anything standing between Him (our true life, joy, and freedom), and us (with hearts so desperately thirsty for that life, joy, and freedom).

The Joy of SOZO
Can you do it? Yes. It's time. If you need help - seek it. So many ministries are out there to assist in helping you find that freedom. SOZO is one of them - now offered through many ministries and churches. I have posted a link on my blog to the left. Check it out.

Blessings and joy to you today!!!!

Good questions For Your Good Morning!

What is your passion today?
What life dream are you working on?
How will you be creative today?
What has God been talking to you about?
Today is your day! Colorado Worship Leader Rod Parsley posted on his FaceBook recently:
“God is as happy as He is holy!”
Seize this day and be happy in Him - and just see how it affects everyone around you!
We have heard it said that we are holy because He is holy. I would like to add:
“we are happy because He is happy! Yay!

Follow God’s example therefore, as dearly loved children.

He's Calling You Closer

Do God, Jesus, and Holy Spirit seem distant?
John, the disciple who witnessed the death on the cross and later the resurrection of Jesus, writes so eloquently of the present and real participation in our lives of the One who died and now lives. Present tense. "He is, He will, He does."
John accepts the truth of the supernatural, eternal life of our Lord and presents the truth to those around Him and to all those who will ever believe and obey.
Psalm 5 assures us that God is present right now.
Psalm 46 tells us he is our ever present help in times of trouble.
How many times do we read these and then go about our lives trying to fix things for ourselves - leaving Him out or as an afterthought as we desperately cry for help?
I know I often quote these to others, yet forget to apply them to myself.
Our good God, His loving Son, and our friend and comforter, the Holy Spirit, surround us, indwell us, laugh with us, dance over us, and extend their compassion to us.
We need only to receive, give thanks, and lift our praises.
He's real. He's right there with you.
If you haven't met Him yet, let me introduce you! He's my friend, my Papa.
He is yours, too.

Double Blessing

The air smells so sweet in Parachute, Colorado. I’ve never smelled anything quite like it in May. I think the only other fragrance so wonderful is the pine trees and sage on a rainy day on Gore Pass. I’m so thankful for the mornings in Colorado. And I am thankful today for my Bible where God is revealing Himself more to me every time I read.
This week, I was reading Philippians. I’ve read it probably 100 times because it’s a favorite. This time, God revealed something new to me. We’ve always put so much importance on Paul’s saying that, no matter what, in abundance or in lack, he has learned to be happy in the love of Jesus. And that is so true and it’s such a wonderful teaching. But in the context of what he is talking about, he is addressing people who are giving to him and his ministry. Yes, he can live either way. Yes, he is thankful for the gifts. But the reason he is so thankful, is because God is doing something good in those people that are giving. He knows that when they give to his ministry, God is surely going to bless them. He knows that in the learning to give that there is something good that is going to happen to them. That it’s for their good, more than it’s for his good.
Five hours after I read the passage, the mail came and there was a check for our ministry. Immediately, my thoughts went to “oh they didn’t have to do that.” But quickly, I had assurance that this was for their good. God is going to bless them abundantly for blessing us. He can trust them with the resources of Heaven, to pour out upon them, knowing they are obedient to His voice.
We give, we are blessed. We receive, we are blessed.
Taste and see...experience His fragrance...He is so good!
